Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Taut and lively, with good tension between the mineral flavors and hints of apricot on the ripe finish. - WS The 2014 Pinot Blanc starts with an aroma of wild flowers and honeysuckles. On the tongue you taste a light sweetness with bright acidity, with floral notes framed by citrus fruits, predominantly lemon. The texture of the wine is round and sweet and a juicy acidity in the aftertaste. The finish is long, full of citrus and similar floral notes.
Vineyard Notes
We sourced Pinot Blanc grapes from Misty Oak Vineyard in Umpqua and Winkler Vineyard in Yamhill Carlton. Misty Oak Vineyard grapes represent 59% of the blend. The vineyard was planted in 2005 at about 800 ft elevation with Pinot Blanc. The grapes were harvested October 12. Winkler Vineyard grapes represent about 41% of the grapes in the blend. The vineyard was planted from 1997 to 2003 at the top of a small hill just west of Yamhill. The grapes were harvested September 26.
Production Notes
Our Pinot Blanc was fermented in both stainless steel tanks and in neutral oak barrels for two and a half months, before four months of aging on lees.
